Industrial Vehicles

At Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, a variety of industrial vehicles are used regularly on campus. Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Industrial Vehicle Program is a combination of multiple smaller programs (Forklift, Scissor-Lift, Aerial-Lift, Backhoe, Skid-steer, etc.) This Program contains industry standards, OSHA regulations, and Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ specific standards.

Anyone who operates (students, staff, contractors, etc.) an industrial vehicle on Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ property will need to follow Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ safety standards

Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ students or employees who want to use an industrial vehicle will need to receive authorized training from Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ ORM. Training can be in-person or a combination of online and in-person training.

Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Specific Safety Standards:

  • All industrial vehicle lifts on campus require the operator to wear a fall protection harness.
  • Aerial Lifts nor scissor lifts will be operated at height with winds over 25 mph.
  • If traveling in any industrial vehicle, working in a high traffic area, or on the road, the area shall be blocked off or have dedicated flaggers or a pilot vehicle to ensure the safety of pedestrians and other vehicles.
  • Industrial vehicles that have road vehicle lights or is a landscaping vehicle (lawnmowers, tractors, sprayers) do not need a pilot vehicle when operating on Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ owned roads.
  • No combustion engines may be operated inside a building without a method to exhaust contaminants and continues air monitoring.
  • Only authorized Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ employees may operate Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ industrial vehicles.
  • Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ contractors shall not use Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ vehicles without prior approval from Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ ORM.
