Credit-earning Research Assistant for two Music Research Projects, no prior musical training required
Description:
I am working on two research projects that require assistance for various tasks: document research, translation, library research, and performance work. A few research assistant positions are available for credit.
The first research project is related to East Asian Music (traditional, and contemporary) / East Asian instruments which requires assistance for translation (Chinese/ Japanese/ Korean to English), library research/ database organization/ website build-up. Students who are interested or competent in music/ Asian and Asian American Studies/ computer science/ information science/ arts and culture are highly encouraged to apply. No prior musical knowledge or training are required.
The second research project is related to player piano (mechanical instrument) and Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ history. Harvey Roehl, the first collector of mechanical instruments, resided in Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. This project requires assistance for library research/ database organization/ website build-up. Students who are interested or competent in music (classical or Jazz)/ science/ computer science/ information science/ arts and culture are highly encouraged to apply. No prior musical knowledge or training are required.
These positions are available on both a one-semester basis and two-semester basis. Number of credits are discussed upon on time and work commitment.
