Background

Kristen Swedberg is a PRODiG+ Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Public Administration and Policy. Her research explores the social benefits of protecting water resources, improves empirical methods for cost-benefit analysis, and evaluates federal environmental policy. Her work on the hedonic valuation of lake water quality has been published in PNAS and Land Economics.

Swedberg currently teaches in the Master of Public Administration Program and the Sustainable Communities M.S. Program. Previously, she participated as a research fellow at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Water Economics Center. She completed a PhD in Economics from Virginia Tech in 2024 and an M.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Virginia Tech in 2020.
