On October 21, 2014, more than 100 Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ students, faculty and administrators participated in a White House campaign to raise awareness of sexual assault across the country. The “It’s On Us” Signing Day at Hughes-Trigg Student Center was sponsored by the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Student Senate.

“The ‘It’s On Us’ campaign is an opportunity for us to stand with other universities against sexual assault,” says Monica Finnegan, student body vice president and a senior Hunt Leadership Scholar, who organized the event. “Student leaders launched the ‘Not On My Campus’ campaign at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ last year, and this national campaign is an additional way for us to work together to eliminate sexual assault and misconduct.”

On a table lined with computers, Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ community members took the “It’s on Us” pledge, which asks signers to:

  • Recognize that non-consensual sex is sexual assault.
  • Identify situations in which sexual assault may occur.
  • Intervene in situations where consent has not or cannot be given.
  • Create an environment in which sexual assault is unacceptable and survivors are supported.
